The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the Southwestern Lady Warriors in Bowling Green in the German American Bank Classic
In the opening period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Warriors 19-9, as Lady Colonel senior guards Graci Risley and Savannah Lacer combined for 10 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Lady Warriors would outscore the Lady Colonels 9-3, as the Lady Colonels held a 4 point lead over the Lady Warriors at halftime with the score 22-18.
To begin the second half, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Warriors 17-11, as senior forward Jarie Thomas and senior guard Graci Risley combined for 12 points and the Lady Colonels held a 39-29 lead over the Lady Warriors heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Warriors 22-12, as senior guard Graci Risley scored 10 points in the quarter that would lead to the 20 point victory over the Lady Warriors with the final score 61-41. The Lady Colonels improve to (10-3) on the season while the Lady Warriors drop to (7-7).
The leading scorer for the Lady Colonels was senior guard Graci Risley with 24 points while knocking down 5 three pointers and shooting 5 for 5 from the free throw line on the day. Senior forward Jarie Thomas scored 12 points while shooting 2 for 2 from the free throw line while freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson contributed 12 points while shooting 3 for 4 from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles tallied 8 points while knocking down 2 three pointers while senior guard Savannah Lacer added 5 points while shooting 2 for 2 from the free throw line on the day.
As a team, the Lady Colonels knocked down 9 three pointers and shot 12 for 13 (92%) from the free throw line on the day.
The Lady Colonels next game will be Friday night, January 13th, on the road in Morganfield against the Union County Bravettes at 7:30 P.M.
