The Henderson County Colonels took on the Christian County Colonels on the road in Hopkinsville.
In the first period, Henderson County outscored Christian County 11-9 heading into the second quarter. In the second period, Henderson senior guard Gerard Thomas scored 7 points and added 4 rebounds in the quarter as Christian would outscore Henderson 16-14 and at the halftime score was 25-25.
To begin the second half, the Colonels from Henderson would outscore the Christian County Colonels 17-14 in the third quarter, as the Henderson County Colonels would hold a 8 point lead over the Christian County Colonels heading into the fourth quarter with the score 42-34. In the fourth and final quarter, Henderson County would outscore Christian County 12-10, as it would be the Henderson County Colonels taking down the Christian County Colonels on the road with the final score 54-49. Henderson County improves to (11-5) on the season while Christian County falls to (8-8).
The Colonels get their 3rd big Region 2 road win of the season against Christian County with the previous two: one on the road taking down Madisonville-North Hopkins 78-57 on December 9th, 2022 and another last week taming the Hopkinsville Tigers 62-52 on January 3rd, 2023.
The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior guard Gerard Thomas with 17 points and 9 rebounds while knocking down 2 three pointers and shooting 7 for 9 from the free throw line on the night. Sophomore guard Cooper Davenport scored 14 points while knocking down 3 three pointers and shooting 5 for 6 from the free throw line. Junior guard Alec Satterfield tallied 8 points and 5 steals while sophomore forward Trajdon Davis recorded 6 points. Senior forward Jake Rideout contributed 6 points and 5 rebounds while junior guard Nick Belle added 3 points on the night.
As a team, the Colonels shot 5 for 12 (42%) from the three point line and shot 17 for 23 (74%) from the free throw line. The Colonels also grabbed 26 total rebounds and committed 15 turnovers on the night.
The Colonels will take on the North Hardin Trojans on Saturday afternoon, January 14th, on the road at Central Hardin at 1:00 P.M. Central Time in the RDT Construction New Years Classic.
