Nick Whitt has been appointed to serve on the City of Henderson Board of Commissioners.
The Commission appointed Whitt Tuesday afternoon at its first meeting of 2023. Whitt’s appointment will run until a November special election. Then voters will have a chance to elect a candidate.
Whitt originally finished fifth in last November’s election. The fourth-place finisher Jay Randolph declined to be sworn into the commission due to personal reasons, creating the vacancy that Whitt now fills.
Mayor Brad Staton said he hopes to have Whitt sworn into office later this week.
Also, during the meeting, the commission unanimously approved the following appointments:
- Commissioner Austin Vowels as Mayor Pro Tem.
- Dwight Williams reappointed to the Henderson City-County Airport Board
- George Jones reappointed to the Water and Sewer Commission
- Former Mayor Steve Austin appointed to serve out the unexpired term of John Henderson on the Water and Sewer Commission. The term expires in 2025.
