The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the Union County Bravettes in Morganfield.

 

In the opening period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Bravettes 18-4 heading into the second quarter. In the second period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Bravettes 18-9, as the Lady Colonels held a 23 point lead over the Bravettes at halftime with the score 36-13.

 

To begin the second half, the Bravettes would outscore the Lady Colonels 19-13, as the Lady Colonels held a 49-32 lead over the Bravettes heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Bravettes 20-13, as the Lady Colonels would come away with a 24 point win on the road against 6th District rivals the Bravettes with the final score 69-45. The Lady Colonels improve to (11-3) on the season while the Bravettes drop to (12-7).

 

The leading scorer for the Lady Colonels was sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles with 20 points while knocking down 5 three pointers and grabbing 3 rebounds and recording 2 assists and 3 steals on the night. Senior forward Jarie Thomas scored 15 points while joining the 1,000th point club in the game and recording 9 rebounds. Senior guard Graci Risley tallied 11 points while knocking down 3 three pointers while sophomore forward Anna Kemp contributed 8 points and 5 rebounds to go along with 2 assists. Senior guard Mallorie Veal added 7 points while freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson scored 3 points and had 3 rebounds. Senior guard Savannah Lacer contributed 2 points and 6 assists as well as 3 steals while sophomore guard Allyson Rideout tallied 2 points. To round out the scoring for the Lady Colonels, freshman guard Addy Gish added 2 points on the night. 

As a team, the Lady Colonels shot 9 for 17 (52%) from the three point line while shooting 7 for 11 (63%) from the free throw line while grabbing 27 total team rebounds and committing only 8 turnovers. The Lady Colonels also recorded 14 assists, 10 steals, and 1 block on the night as a team.

 

The Lady Colonels next game will be Saturday afternoon, January 14th, at home against the Bowling Green Lady Purples at 1:30 P.M. at Colonel Gym.
