Colonels Dominate Panthers on Road

The Henderson County Colonels faced off against the Daviess County Panthers on the road in Owensboro.

 

In the first period, the Colonels outscored the Knights 19-8, as Colonel sophomore guard Cooper Davenport and senior guard Gerard Thomas combined for 13 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Colonels outscored the Panthers 22-16, as the Colonels held a 17 point lead at halftime with the score 41-24.

 

To begin the second half, the Colonels would outscore the Panthers 20-12, as Colonel sophomore forward Trajdon Davis and senior forward Jake Rideout would combine for 10 points as the Colonels would hold a 25 point lead over the Panthers heading into the fourth quarter with the score 61-36. In the fourth and final quarter, the Colonels would outscore the Panthers 13-7, as the Colonels would come away with a dominating 31 point win against the Panthers with the final score 74-43. The Colonels improve to (13-6) on the season while the Panthers fall to (7-10).

 

The leading scorer for the Colonels was sophomore guard Cooper Davenport with 17 points while knocking down 5 three pointers and recorded 3 steals on the night. Senior guard Gerard Thomas scored 16 points and had 9 rebounds while senior forward Jake Rideout tallied 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Sophomore forward Trajdon Davis added 7 points and 4 rebounds while junior guard Alec Satterfield contributed 4 points and 5 rebounds as well as 6 assists and 3 steals. Sophomore guard Lacon McKinney recorded 4 points while senior guard Korey McElveen added 4 points. Sophomore center Elijah Suggs tallied 4 points and 3 rebounds while sophomore guard Francisco Guevera scored 3 points. To round out the scoring for the Colonels, junior guard Nick Belle added 2 points on the night.

As a team, the Colonels shot 6 for 13 (46%) from the three point line and shot 6 for 8 (75%) from the free throw linwhile grabbing 33 total team rebounds and committing 11 turnovers on the night.

 

The Colonels will take on the Evansville Central Bears on Friday night, January 20th, at home at Colonel Gym with the tip-off at 7:30 P.M.
