The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the Christian County Lady Colonels at home at Colonel Gym on Senior night.
In the opening period, the Henderson County Lady Colonels would outscore the Christian County Lady Colonels 15-13 heading into the second quarter. In the second period, Henderson County would outscore Christian County 23-9, as sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles and senior guard Graci Risley combined for 18 points in the quarter as Henderson would hold a 18 point lead over Christian heading into halftime with the score 38-20.
To begin the second half, the Henderson County Lady Colonels would outscore the Christian County Lady Colonels 22-6, as senior forward Jarie Thomas scored 14 points in the quarter and Henderson would hold a 60-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, Christian County would outscore Henderson County 8-5, but the Henderson County Lady Colonels would win by 31 points with the final score 65-34. The Henderson County Lady Colonels improve to (16-4) on the season while the Christian County Lady Colonels drop to (9-12).
The Henderson County Lady Colonels recognized their 4 seniors before the varsity game. The 4 seniors are Mallorie Veal, Jarie Thomas, Savannah Lacer, and Graci Risley.
The leading scorer for the Henderson County Lady Colonels was senior forward Jarie Thomas with 21 points and 4 rebounds while shooting 5 for 8 from the free throw line on the night. Senior guard Graci Risley scored 14 points while shooting 4 for 10 from the three point line and recording 2 steals and 2 blocks. Sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles tallied 11 points while shooting 6 for 6 from the free throw line while senior guard Mallorie Veal recorded 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson contributed 6 points and 6 rebounds while sophomore forward Anna Kemp scored 3 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. To round out the scoring for the Lady Colonels, freshman guard Addy Gish added 3 points and 2 rebounds on the night.
As a team, the Lady Colonels shot 6 for 17 (35%) from the three point line and shot 19 for 25 (76%) from the free throw line while grabbing a total of 33 rebounds and committing 10 turnovers on the night. Also the Lady Colonels recorded 8 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks on the night.
The Lady Colonels next game will be tomorrow afternoon, February 4th, at home at Colonel Gym against the Owensboro Lady Red Devils with the tip-off at 1:30 P.M.
