Lady Colonels Cruise to Easy Win

The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against 6th District rival the Webster County Lady Trojans on the road at Trojan Gym in Dixon.

 

In the opening period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Trojans 15-4, as Lady Colonel senior forward Jarie Thomas had 4 points and 7 rebounds in the quarter. In the second period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Trojans 23-5, as senior forward Jarie Thomas would have a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the first half as the Lady Colonels would have a 29 lead over the Lady Trojans at halftime with the score 38-9. 

 

To begin the second half, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Trojans 17-6, as senior guard Graci Risley and sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles would combine for 14 points in the quarter and the Lady Colonels would have a 55-15 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Trojans 13-2, as the Lady Colonels cruise in dominating fashion with a 51 point win with the final score 68-17. The Lady Colonels improve to (18-4) on the season while the Lady Trojans drop to (6-17). 

 

The leading scorer for the Lady Colonels was senior Graci Risley with 18 points while knocking down 4 three pointers on the night. Senior forward Jarie Thomas contributed a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds and had 3 blocks while shooting 4 for 5 from the free throw line while freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Senior guard Mallorie Veal tallied 8 points while sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles recorded 4 points and 4 rebounds. Freshman forward A’Tylia Green contributed 4 points and 4 rebounds while freshman guard Addy Gish scored 3 points. Sophomore guards Jaci Risley and Rashia Cansler tallied 3 points each while sophomore guard Allyson Rideout tallied 2 points. Sophomore forward Anna Kemp added 2 points and 3 rebounds while senior guard Savannah Lacer scored 2 points and had 3 rebounds on the night.

As a team, the Lady Colonels shot 9 for 15 (60%) from the three point line and shot 11 for 16 (68%) from the free throw line while grabbing a total of 43 rebounds and committing 16 turnovers on the day.

 

The Lady Colonels next game will be Friday night, February 10th, at home at Colonel Gym in the first game of a girl/boy doubleheader against the Union County Bravettes with the tip-off at 6 P.M.
