The Webster County Lady Trojans faced off in a 6th District rivalry game against the Union County Bravettes at Dr. Doug Hines Gym and Gerald Tabor Court in Morganfield.
In the opening period, the Bravettes outscored the Lady Trojans 16-9, as Bravette junior guard Lillian Goodloe scored 9 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Bravettes outscored the Lady Trojans 13-8, as the Bravettes would have a 12 point lead at halftime with the score 29-17.
To begin the second half, the Lady Trojans would outscore the Bravettes 19-17, as Lady Trojan sophomore forward Jaycie Wright and senior guard Katelyn Cates would combine for 10 points in the quarter as the Bravettes would hold a 10 point lead with the score 46-36 heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Bravettes would outscore the Lady Trojans 25-14, as Bravette senior guard Madison Morris would score 18 points in the quarter and the Bravettes would go on to win the game by 21 points with the final score 71-50. The Bravettes improve to (17-9) on the season while the Lady Trojans fall to (7-19).
The leading scorer for the Bravettes was senior guard Madison Morris with 26 points and 3 rebounds while recording 7 assists while shooting 3 for 4 from the free throw line on the night. Junior guard Lillian Goodloe scored 21 points while shooting 6 for 15 from the three point line while senior guard Reese Hagan contributed 13 points and 4 rebounds along with 2 assists. Junior center Jaci Curry tallied 6 points and 6 rebounds while sophomore forward Paige Steward added 5 points and 7 rebounds to round out the scoring on the night for the Bravettes.
As a team, the Bravettes were 12 for 38 (32%) from the three point line and shot 9 for 15 (60%) from the free throw line while grabbing 44 total rebounds and committing 13 turnovers on the night.
The leading scorer for the Lady Trojans was sophomore forward Jaycie Wright with 17 points and 4 rebounds while shooting 5 for 6 from the free throw line on the night. Senior guard Katelyn Cates scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds while shooting 2 for 4 from the three point line and shot 6 for 8 from the free throw line. Sophomore forward Hannah Yates contributed 9 points and 6 rebounds while knocking down 3 three pointers while sophomore guard Malorie Austin tallied 5 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. Senior guard Brooke Shepherd recorded 3 points while junior guard Addison Thompson added 2 points to round out the scoring on the night for the Lady Trojans.
As a team, the Lady Trojans were 7 for 20 (35%) from the three point line and shot 11 for 14 (79%) from the free throw line while grabbing 25 total rebounds and committing 15 turnovers on the night.
The Bravettes next game is Thursday night, February 16th, on the road at Marshall County against the Lady Marshals at 7:30 P.M. while the Lady Trojans face off against the Marshall County Lady Marshals at home in Dixon at 6:00 P.M. tonight.
