The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the McLean County Lady Cougars on the road in Calhoun.

 

In the opening period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Cougars 11-5, as Lady Colonel senior guard Graci Risley scored 6 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Cougars 26-12, as senior guard Graci Risley and senior forward Jarie Thomas combined for 15 points in the quarter as the Lady Colonels would hold a 20 point lead over the Lady Cougars at halftime with the score 37-17.

 

To begin the second half, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Cougars 17-8, as freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson would score 10 points in the quarter as the Lady Colonels would have a 54-25 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Cougars would outscore the Lady Colonels 15-10, but the Lady Colonels would come away with a 24 point win with the final score 64-40. The Lady Colonels improve to (21-4) on the season while the Lady Cougars drop to (6-20).

 

The leading scorer for the Lady Colonels was senior guard Graci Risley with 15 points and 2 rebounds while shooting 5 for 7 from the three point line on the night. Freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds while shooting 8 for 8 from the free throw line while senior forward Jarie Thomas contributed 10 points and 7 rebounds. Senior guard Mallorie Veal tallied 9 points and grabbed 3 rebounds while shooting 3 for 5 from the three point line while freshman forward A’Tylia Green recorded 6 points. Sophomore guard Allyson Rideout added 5 points while sophomore guard Jaci Risley scored 3 points. To round out the scoring for the Lady Colonels, sophomore forward Anna Kemp tallied 2 points on the night.

As a team, the Lady Colonels shot 9 for 17 (53%) from the three point line and shot 11 for 16 (69%) from the free throw line while grabbing a total of 29 rebounds on the night.

 

The Lady Colonels next game will be Friday night, February 17th, on the road in Madisonville against the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm with the tip-off at 7:00 P.M.
