Motorists should expect U.S. 41 lane closure this week as concrete girders for I-69 project are moved

Starting Monday and continuing throughout the workweek, drivers should expect a lane closure on U.S. 41 and some temporary rolling closures.

This week’s short-term closures are needed to accommodate delivering large concrete beams. The beams will be delivered to the site of the new I-69 bridges that will carry future traffic over Canoe Creek.

The concrete girders are large, horizontal beams that will support the decks of the new bridges. The girders are nearly 140-feet-long and 6-feet tall. Each weighs nearly 80 tons. There are seven girders in each of the two bridges.

There will be a single lane closure on U.S. 41 North between Kentucky 351 and U.S. 60. The closure will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting today and ending Friday.

There will be rolling full closures on U.S. 41 North between Kentucky 351 and U.S. 60. These rolling full closures will be up to 15 minutes and occur between noon and 3 p.m. daily.

Rolling full closures of up to 15 minutes are also planned for U.S. 60-East between Richardson Avenue and Barrett Boulevard between noon and 3 p.m. daily.

Flaggers will temporarily close the Barrett Boulevard and U.S. 60 intersection in all directions to move the large beams through the area.

Again, these closures begin Monday and continue through Friday.
