MAC “LARRY” LAWRENCE BOOK 90 OF HENDERSON
DIED FRIDAY, MARCH 17TH, AT DEACONESS MIDTOWN HOSPITAL. HE EARNED HIS BACHELOR’S DEGREE FROM BRESCIA UNIVERSITY AND WAS A PROUD VETERAN OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY AND SERVED DURING THE KOREAN CONFLICT. AFTER HIS SERVICE, LARRY WAS THE MANAGER AT THE MOUNT VERNON INDIANA CO-OP AND THEN WAS THE FINANCE DIRECTOR FOR THE CITY OF HENDERSON. LARRY BECAME PROVIDENCE, KENTUCKY’S FIRST CITY MANAGER AND EVENTUALLY FOUND A LONG AND SATISFYING CAREER AS THE DIRECTOR OF FISCAL SERVICES FOR THE COMMUNITY METHODIST HOSPITAL FOR 27 YEARS BEFORE RETIRING. HE WAS ALSO AN ACTIVE MEMBER AT FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH WHERE HE SANG IN THE CHOIR AND SERVED A TERM AS CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. LARRY WAS VERY INVOLVED WITH THE HENDERSON LION’S CLUB AND WAS A RECIPIENT OF THE MELVIN JONES AWARD, THEIR HIGHEST HONOR. LARRY WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS SISTER, NANCY, AND BROTHER, ROBERT.

DAUGHTER DARLA DAUGHERTY
SON KEVIN BOOK BOTH OF HENDERSON
4 GRANDCHILDREN
2 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN

A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 2PM ON FRIDAY, MARCH 24TH, AT BENTON-GLUNT & TAPP FUNERAL HOME.
MILITARY HONORS WILL BE RENDERED BY THE AMERICAN LEGION WORSHAM POST #40
BURIAL WILL BE AT A LATER DATE
FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE INVITED TO LARRY’S LIFE CELEBRATION FROM 11AM UNTIL SERVICE TIME ON FRIDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
