Kentucky State Police have charged an Indiana man with the attempted murder of a police officer.
Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville said they were called at 9:57 a.m. Wednesday to assist McLean County Sheriff’s Department with the pursuit of a 2017 maroon Ford Fusion headed southbound on U.S. 41.

At the intersection of Kentucky 107 and East Seventh Street, the car crashed into a utility pole and Alire attempted to flee on foot. Police arrested Alire without further incident.
He was charged with several traffic violations, 15 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by unlawful taking of a firearm, theft by unlawful over $10,000 for the automobile, two counts first-degree fleeing and evading, and two counts of being a fugitive from another state in reference to parole violation warrants in Indiana.
The investigation continues by Master Trooper Mike Dennis.
