Green River District Health Department confirmed 69 new cases of COVID-19 in June


The Green River District Health Department reported that in the previous month it had investigated 69 new COVID-19 infections; 40 in Daviess County, 5 in Hancock County, 16 in Henderson County, 2 in McLean County, 1 in Ohio County, 2 in Union County, and 3 in Webster County. There were 8 COVID-19 related deaths reported in the previous month. The COVID-19 related deaths were 5 residents of Daviess County, 1 resident of Hancock, 1 resident of McLean County, and 1 resident of Ohio County. The average number of new cases in the district for that period was 2.3 new cases a day. The newly reported cases were investigated between June 1 and 30, 2023.

The Green River District Health Department recommends that people:

  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.
  •  Stay home if you are sick.
  •  Get tested if you have symptoms.
  •  Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; use hand sanitizer if you do not have access to soap and water.
  • You may choose to wear a mask at any time.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Anyone with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask. Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness.

Make Sure Your Vaccinations Are Up to Date

With the start of school around the corner, it’s time to make sure school-age children are up to date on their vaccines. Vaccines are an effective way to prevent or protect against the harmful effects of serious disease. According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health website, “On-time vaccination during childhood is important. Vaccinations help to provide immunity before children are exposed to potentially life-threatening diseases.” As adults, staying up to date on vaccines remains important to prevent and reduce the risks of harmful disease.
