(Henderson, Ky. – Sept. 29, 2023) – The Henderson County school district has selected Owensboro Health to provide orthopedics and sports medicine services to its student-athletes, effective immediately. The new agreement makes Owensboro Health the official sports medicine provider of the Henderson County Colonels—the continuation of a strong and growing relationship between the two organizations, officials say.
“Owensboro Health is very pleased to have the opportunity to care for student-athletes in Henderson County and to help them be as successful as possible,” said Melissa Hoffer, associate director of orthopedics for Owensboro Health Medical Group. “Henderson is a wonderful community with a deep tradition of athletic success, and we are grateful to be a part of it going forward. It is a true win-win for both Owensboro Health and Henderson County Schools, and we are excited to get started.”
Owensboro Health operates seven orthopedic clinics across the Tri-State area, including at the Henderson Healthplex on Barret Boulevard near Walmart. The orthopedics team—which includes seven physicians, five physician assistants and a staff of certified trainers—offers a full range of services to help athletes stay healthy and recover from injuries. Under the new agreement, Owensboro Health will recruit a dedicated trainer for Henderson County, with current staff attending practices and games until then.
