Two Henderson County School buses were involved in an accident on U.S. 60 on Tuesday afternoon.
Henderson County Schools Public Information Officer Megan Mortis said the buses were transporting students from Bend Gate Elementary when the incident occurred at about 2:45 p.m.
Nine students were transported to Deaconess Henderson Hospital by ambulance and one by personal vehicle. Mortis said that, “fortunately, these injuries were not life threatening but we will always take the proper medical precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.”
All of the other students were cleared by medical personnel on the scene and allowed to board another bus at First Assembly of God for reunification with families.
The school district thanked the Henderson Fire Department and Henderson Police Department for their quick response.
