HENDERSON, Ky. – Henderson Community College (HCC) held its fall commencement ceremony on Dec. 8, 2023, at the Preston Arts Center. During the event, 57 students walked across the stage to receive their credentials.
HCC Associate Registrar Tammie Zuber said the college awarded 83 degrees, 10 diplomas, and 139 certificates to the graduating class. Of the 83 degrees, 51 were Associate in Applied Science degrees; 24 were Associate in Science degrees; and 8 were Associate in Arts degrees.
“I am very proud of HCC, the opportunities it offers, and the strong role it fills in community, economic, and workforce development, along with lifelong learning and cultural enrichment,” HCC President/CEO Jason Warren said. “Each of our graduates has a special story and we feel honored that HCC has been a part of their educational journey.”
Distinguished Alumni Award
The ceremony also featured the announcement of the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes an HCC alumnus who has made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments, affiliations, and careers have honored HCC.
HCC Board of Directors Secretary Jennifer Andrews presented the award to Nathan Grace. Nathan is a graduate of Henderson County High School, HCC, and Murray State University. During his time at HCC, Grace actively participated in Student Government and was a member of the academic team.
Grace has been an educator since 1999 with a career that includes teaching and counseling. He earned a Masters in School Counseling from Murray State University and a Rank 1 in Counseling from Western Kentucky University.
He is the son of Mac and Patricia Grace, both graduates of HCC. He and his wife Jessica reside in Henderson County and have two sons.
