Henderson Police Department is investigating an online fraud scam.
Police said that several Henderson residents used Google to find a customer service phone number for Chime Financial Services. The 800 number that appeared in the Google search was a false number that was answered by a person with a foreign accent, according to a news release from Henderson Police Department.
The person claimed to be a Chime employee and had the caller download a third-party app called Any Desk. When the victim downloaded the Any Desk app, the person claiming to be the Chime employee took over the victim’s phone and used it to steal money from the victims’ bank accounts.
