HENDERSON, Ky. — The latest group of emerging community leaders will graduate from the 14th class of the Henderson Leadership Initiative at a commencement ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 18.
In addition to the commencement ceremony, the 24 members of the class will announce four community improvement initiatives that they will be pursuing. The brainstorming of community projects has been a hallmark of HLI since the program launched in 2007. The initiatives are intended to benefit Henderson as well as provide practical experience in community leadership to the participants.
The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Preston Arts Center on the Henderson Community College campus. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served afterward.
Members of the public, current HLI Fellows, and community leaders are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony. Seating will be in the Preston Arts Center auditorium.
The ceremony is sponsored by Field & Main.
“With this upcoming graduation, HLI will have prepared 264 Fellows for community leadership, and providing leadership is exactly what they are doing,” Scott Davis, an HLI co-founder who chairs the organization’s board, said. “HLI Fellows are guiding nonprofit organizations in both staff and board positions, leading local companies, serving in public office, and making Henderson a greater place. They are doing exactly what we hoped they would do when we founded HLI.”
