HENDERSON, Ky. – Henderson Community College will host a Black History Month event on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Preston Arts Center on the campus of HCC. The event is free and open to the public.
The event’s featured speaker will be David Ragland, Head Men’s Basketball Coach from the University of Evansville. Ragland has served as head men’s basketball coach at UE since 2022.
In a coaching career that has spanned nearly two decades, Ragland’s experience has seen him contribute to an impressive group of programs that includes Butler, Utah State, Valparaiso, Vincennes, Northern Kentucky, Bowling Green, Indiana State, and Frank Phillips College. He joined the UE program following a 1-year stint as an assistant coach at Butler University.
A graduate of Harrison High School in Evansville, Ragland began his collegiate career as a player at Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, where his team went on to the NCAA Division II Final Four during his freshman year. Following his sophomore year, he transferred to the University of Southern Indiana where he played two seasons, propelling the Screaming Eagles to a total of 47 victories and leading the team in assists both years.
