The Union County Bravettes faced off against the Webster County Lady Trojans in the 6th District Softball Tournament in Morganfield last night.
In the top of the 1st inning, the Bravettes would strike first scoring on a 2 RBI double from sophomore first baseman Jaylen Tackett and an RBI single from junior second baseman Sydney Thomas to give the Bravettes an early 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 1st.
In the top of the 3rd inning, the Bravettes would score 2 runs and widen the lead to 5-0 heading into the bottom of the 3rd.
In the top of the 4th inning, the Bravettes would score 2 runs on a 2 RBI single by sophomore first baseman Jaylen Tackett to extend the lead to 7-0 heading into the bottom of the 4th.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, the Lady Trojans would score 1 run on an error and 1 run on a RBI double by 7th grader second baseman Layla Scott to narrow the deficit to 7-2 heading into the top of the 5th.
In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Lady Trojans would score 1 run to narrow the Bravettes lead to 7-3 heading into the top of the 6th.
In the top of the 6th inning, the Bravettes would score on a RBI double from junior second baseman Sydney Thomas to extend the Bravettes lead to 8-3 heading into the bottom of the 6th.
In the top of the 7th inning, the Bravettes would score 2 runs to extend their lead to 10-3 heading into the bottom of the 7th.
The Bravettes would not allow the Lady Trojans to score another run and the Bravettes would come away with the 10-3 6th District Tournament win. The Bravettes improve to (21-16) on the season while the Lady Trojans season ends with a (25-11) record.
Bravettes sophomore first baseman Jaylen Tackett was 3 for 5 with 4 RBI’s and 2 doubles while junior second baseman Sydney Thomas was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Freshman center fielder Brylee Jackson was 2 for 4 on the night.
Lady Trojans junior first baseman Kennedy Warren was 2 for 3 on the night.
Bravettes junior pitcher Peyton Jenkins in 7 innings allowed 6 hits while walking 3 batters and recording 9 strikeouts on the night.
Lady Trojans junior pitcher Chloe Papineau in 3 innings allowed 5 hits and 6 runs while walking 3 batters and recording 6 strikeouts while sophomore pitcher Reagan Corbett in 4 innings allowed 5 hits and 4 runs while walking 3 batters and recording 2 strikeouts on the night.
As a team, the Bravettes scored 10 runs and recorded 10 hits, 9 RBI’s, 5 doubles, 8 stolen bases, and committed 1 error on the night.
As a team, the Lady Colonels scored 3 runs and recorded 6 hits, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base, and committed 3 errors on the night.
The Bravettes will face off against the Henderson County Lady Colonels tonight in Morganfield in the 6th District Softball Tournament Championship Game with the first pitch set for 5:30 P.M.
