The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the Union County Bravettes in the 6th District Softball Tournament Championship Game in Morganfield last night.
In the bottom of the 1st inning, the Lady Colonels would score 6 runs total in the inning, 4 of those runs from 2 run home runs one from freshman right fielder Saniya Shields and one from sophomore Mackenzie Burczyk as the Lady Colonels would have an early 6-0 lead heading into the top of the 2nd.
In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the Lady Colonels would score 3 runs in the inning, one run on a RBI triple from junior pitcher Anna Kemp, one run on an error by the Bravettes, and one run on a RBI double from freshman right fielder Saniya Shields to extend the Lady Colonels lead to 9-0 heading into the top of the 3rd.
In the bottom of the 5th, the Lady Colonels would hit the 10 run rule after a 2 run home run by senior catcher Hallie McCracken to give the Lady Colonels their 4th straight 6th District Championship in a row defeating the Union County Bravettes 11-0 in 5 innings of play. The Lady Colonels improve to (29-5) on the season while the Bravettes fall to
(21-17).
Lady Colonel’s senior catcher Hallie McCracken was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI’s while sophomore Mackenzie Burczyk was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 RBI’s. Senior first baseman Taylor Troutman was 2 for 4 a double while freshman right fielder Saniya Shields was 2 for 3 with a double, a home run, and 3 RBI’s. Junior pitcher Anna Kemp was 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI’s while freshman shortstop Maggie Grogan was 2 for 3 on the night.
Lady Colonels junior pitcher Anna Kemp in 5 innings allowed 2 hits while walking only 1 batter and recorded 10 strikeouts on the evening.

As a team, the Lady Colonels scored 11 runs and recorded 14 hits, 10 RBI’s, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 3 stolen bases, and committed 1 error on the night.
As a team, the Bravettes scored 0 runs and recorded 2 hits while committing 2 errors on the night.
