Henderson, Kentucky – Leading up to the summer solstice and the day with the most light, Homeplace of Henderson residents and families will join supporters across Kentucky and the world to participate in the Alzheimer’s Association’s The Longest Day to shine a light on Alzheimer’s disease through multiple fundraising activities.
Homeplace will have a lemon shake-upstand with desserts with their residents and staff participating to raise monetary donations for the cause from 4-6 p.m. June 21. Also, a basket full of luxury items will be raffled off to all participants who donate $10 or more.
All funds will be donated to the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association to further research and resources for the community of Henderson. All donations are appreciated, and all participants will receive a commemorative purple flower at Homeplace of Henderson to symbolize our gratitude and awareness for Alzheimer’s disease.
Homeplace of Henderson is home of the newest state-of-the-art Memory Care Unit, designed and modeled after Henderson’s downtown streetscape. The unit is equipped with the most advanced technology and staffed 24/7 to
provide the safest and most home-like environment for your loved one. This fundraiser will give local families and caregivers an opportunity to come to the senior living community to make a donation and receive educational
resources for those who are currently caring for a loved one with dementia.
“Homeplace of Henderson is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to further the research of dementia to help our residents fight this growing disease. We are passionate about the love and care we provide our Memory Care residents, and are proud to support this cause, in hopes for more research and resources in the coming years for not only our residents, but for us too,” said Grace Glenn, Director of Sales and Marketing at the Homeplace of Henderson.
“This fundraiser is vital to our community. At this point in our lives, we all have been affected by this disease in one way or another, we each know or have had a loved one personally struggle with the dementia disease process, for me that was my grandparents. It is imperative that people realize this is a growing epidemic in senior care, and we must be mindful that donating to this cause is important for not just our parents, but our future generations.,” said Tim Hancock, RN, Director of Wellness at Homeplace of Henderson.
If you are unable to attend the fundraiser event, Homeplace of Henderson will be taking donations all throughout the month of June leading up to The Longest Day. You can donate via any debit or credit card by going to this link: http://act.alz.org/site/TR?fr_id=17194&pg=personal&px=23684569.
