Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Christian County

OAK GROVE, Ky. – Kentucky State Police said that a Hopkinsville man was killed after his vehicle overturned after he fled from a traffic stop in Oak Grove.

At approximately 11:20 p.m. Saturday, June 15, Kentucky State Police troopers were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on Kentucky 115 in Oak Grove.

Roderick Crossley, 29, of Hopkinsville, approached the checkpoint operating a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. After failing to provide his operator’s license, Crossley accelerated and fled from the checkpoint at a high rate of speed.

Troopers then located the vehicle wrecked in a field north of Interstate 24.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle lost control on Kentucky 115 after traveling across the I-24 overpass, leaving the west side of the roadway. The vehicle then overturned several times, and Crossley was ejected from the collision.

The Christian County Coroner pronounced Crossley deceased on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing by Accident Reconstructionist Brian Graves.
