Betty Kaye Sutton

Betty Kaye Sutton, age 69, of Robards, KY, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY, under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Betty worked as a supervisor in the tri-state area post offices for over 35 years and also taught a class at Robards Elementary School where she instructed children how to properly address and mail letters. She was a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church, as well as their softball team, and was on a women’s bowling league at Echo Lanes. Betty also worked for Period Tables, Gibbs Die Casting, Sani-Clean, and under C.P.S. before moving into postal work. She was an avid book reader and book collector. She quilted, loved to sing and dance, and also enjoyed flowers and gardening.

In addition to her parents, Oscar and Josie Deno, Betty was preceded in death by her sisters, Edna Conadera and Dorothy Littlepage, and her brothers, Curt Deno, Edward Deno, and Earl Deno.

Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years, James H. Sutton; daughter, Brandie Sutton-Workins of Henderson, KY; sons Brian Sutton of Robards, KY, and Brandon Sutton (Melissa) of Henderson, KY; sisters: Jan Barron, Sue Greenwell, Barbara Willingham, and Frances “Frankie” Rigdon; brothers: David Deno, William “Bill” Deno, and Jerry Deno; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Betty’s Life Celebration from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Tuesday and again on Wednesday from 9:00 am until service time at Benton-Glunt and Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY, with Reverend Bret Eblen officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.

WILLIAM L. “BILL” SULLIVAN, JR.

             William L. “Bill” Sullivan, Jr., 71, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Colonial Assisted Living.

Bill was born on April 7, 1953, to the late William L. and Elizabeth Dorsey Sullivan.  He received a degree from Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, KY.  Bill worked as a tollbooth operator for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and was the author of two books.  Bill delighted in family and friends, old tv series, comics, and relics of the past.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Charles Sullivan; and two nephews, Charles Joshua Sullivan and William Zachary Sullivan.

Survivors include one aunt, Martha Dorsey Hodge of Henderson; his sister-in-law, Dana Sullivan of Henderson; two great-nieces, Lillian Elizabeth Sullivan and Izabella Anne Sullivan; and many cousins, including Glenn Hodge Ridley and husband, Dorsey Ridley, of Henderson, Ann Hodge Curtis and husband, Tom Curtis, of Nashville, TN, Thomas Dorsey Hodge and wife, Ann Solomon Hodge, of Houston, TX, John Paton Hodge and wife, Ann Scheiman Hodge, of Henderson, Janet Hodge Warner and husband, Drew Warner, of Indianapolis, IN, Keith A. Hodge and wife, Carla, of Boonville, IN, Elizabeth Rand Jones, Charlotte, NC, Martha Rand Keller and husband, Steven Keller, of Northport, NY, and Julian Arey “Jack” Rand, III, and wife, Martha Rand, of Charlotte, NC.

Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church of Henderson with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m.  The Reverend Eric Hoey will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Henderson Community College Foundation, 2660 S. Green St. Henderson, KY 42420.
