Henderson Lions award scholarships to 2024 HCHS graduates


The Henderson Lions Club awarded scholarships to 11 Henderson County High School graduates during its most recent meeting.

Lions Scholarship Committee Chair Cory Bridges awarded a $1,000 scholarship to each graduated senior.

Several of the scholarships were given in honor or in memory of present or past club members.

Henderson Lions fund the scholarships through a number of annual fundraisers, including the Arts and Crafts Festival in Audubon State Park, the annual one-night live auction, a golf scramble and sale of lemon shake-ups at the Tri-Fest. The Lions’ next fundraising event is the Arts and Crafts Festival the first weekend in October.

The following is a list of the recipients:

  • Summer Hazelwood- Given by Dr. Noel Canlas in honor of Aleisha Canlas.
  • Brooklyn Burris- Given in honor of Howard Moran.
  • Nicholis Belle-Given by Chuck and Donna Stinnitt.
  • Madelyn Bennett-Given in memory of Col. James (Jim) Smith.
  • Lorilei Duncan-Given in memory of Dr.Tony Strawn.
