Henderson County High School Announces New Interim Head Coach for Colonels Baseball


Henderson County High School Athletics has welcomed back Coach J. D. Arndt as interim head coach of Henderson County High School baseball.

Arndt served as assistant coach for Henderson County High School Colonels from 2018 – 2023. During his time as assistant coach, the Colonels made an historic run in 2023 to the KHSAA Final Four.

Arndt, a Cleveland, Ohio native made his way to Henderson by becoming the first and only manager of the
Henderson Flash, a team in the Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League. He has led the Henderson Flash from 2017 to present, won four division titles, and one league championship.

“I am very honored to be offered the position of Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Henderson County High School,” Arndt said. “I would like to thank Dr. Bob Lawson, Ryan Reusch, Nathan Grace, Amber Thomas, and Adam Hines for this exciting opportunity. The baseball program will strive to be hard working and humble on the field, in the classroom, and throughout our community.”

Arndt earned both his undergraduate and Master’s Degree from Missouri Baptist University and served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Spartans for five years.

From 2003-2010 Arndt coached eight seasons of professional baseball with the Rockford RiverHawks of the Independent League, where he served as the teams hitting coach for six years and the team’s manager for two.

Arndt brings a wealth of baseball experience to HCHS, including:

● 14 years as a college baseball coach, Cuyahoga Community College (Ohio); Flagler
College (St. Augustine, Florida); Missouri Baptist University (St. Louis Mo.)
● 6 years as minor league hitting coach/infield coach, 2 years as a minor league manager (2
playoff appearances)
● 4 years as head coach in the Alaskan Baseball League and Great Lakes Collegiate
League
● 2004 League Championship in professional baseball
● 2006 Division Championship in professional baseball as field manager
● 2007 Wild Card Champions in professional baseball as field manager
● 3-time all-star in professional baseball 2 as a coach, 1 as field manager
● 3-time conference champion at Missouri Baptist
● Coached 4 batting champions and 3 runner-up batting champions in professional baseball
● Coached over 40 1

team All-Conference players in college baseball
● Coached numerous All-Region and All-Americans in college baseball
● Coached over 40 college players who have signed professional baseball contracts,
including 2 in the major leagues.
