MADISONVILLE, Ky. (August 23, 2024) – Planned lane restrictions of the U.S. 41 bridge over the Ohio River in Henderson for Saturday, August 24 have been canceled as a contractor working for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet completed the biannual inspection of the Twin Bridges one day ahead of schedule.
Palmer Engineering performed the inspection of the northbound the week of August 5 through 10, then returned this week to conduct the inspection of southbound bridge. Despite finding one minor repair that had to be made on the second bridge on Thursday, all work was completed prior to the scheduled 2 p.m. end time Friday. The 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. lane restrictions scheduled for Saturday have been canceled.
Normal traffic flow has resumed over the bridge.
The northbound bridge opened to traffic in 1932, while its counterpart opened in 1965. Around 43,000 vehicles use the Twin Bridges to cross between Kentucky and Indiana every day.
