Henderson man accused of hitting female victim with a baseball bat

A Henderson man has been arrested on assault charges after being accused of hitting a female victim in the head with a baseball bat.

Henderson Police Department officers were dispatched to Henderson Deaconess on Thursday in reference to a victim being assaulted on Wednesday night.

During the investigation, police said they learned that Nicholas Delong struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat, causing her to possibly have a concussion.

While officers were at the hospital investigating, detectives began watching the home Delong was believed to be inside. Delong then left the home in a vehicle, according to a news release.

Henderson’s Emergency Response Team conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of North Green Street on Thursday afternoon. Police said that the traffic stop was made because Delong had access to weapons and had warrants for strangulation, intimidating a witness, fourth-degree domestic assault, and unlawful imprisonment.

Delong was taken into custody and arrested with no further incident. He was charged with first-degree assault and served his warrants.

This investigation is ongoing.
