The Henderson County Colonels faced off against the South Warren Spartans at home Friday night at Colonel Stadium for the first home game of the season.
The Colonels would suffer their first loss against the Spartans, 43-33.
Colonel senior quarterback Trajdon Davis was 11 for 24 with 175 yards and 3 touchdown passes on the night. Senior running back Tony Burrus rushed 14 times with 124 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown on the night. Senior wide receiver Maxton Meadows had 3 receptions for 63 yards and 2 touchdown receptions while sophomore tight end Christian Haygan had 3 receptions for 53 yards. Senior running back Tony Burrus had 1 reception for 48 yards and a touchdown reception while senior wide receiver Lacon McKinney had 3 receptions for 12 yards on the night. Senior kicker Carson Weiss hit two field goals, one from 31 yards and one from 45 yards, on the night.
Spartans senior quarterback Bryce Button was 17 for 27 with 257 yards and 4 touchdown passes on the night.
The Colonels as a team, had 105 yards rushing and 175 yards passing for a total of 280 yards of offense on the night. The Colonel’s defense allowed the Spartans to have 252 yards rushing and 257 passing yards for a total of 509 yards of total offense on the night, as the Colonels forced 5 fumbles and recovered 2, forced only 1 punt, and allowed the Spartans 22 first downs. The Colonels had 2 penalties for 20 yards while the Spartans had 14 penalties for 140 yards on the night.
The Colonels will take on the Central Hardin Bruins at home next Friday night, September 6th, at Colonel Stadium with the kickoff set for 7:00 P.M.
