The Lady Colonels opened the regular season with a 8 point win over the Owensboro Lady Devils, 54-46, at home at Colonel Gym last night.

The leading scorers for the Lady Devils was Shalyn Sprinkles with 16 points while Heleina John had 10 points and 6 rebounds. Keeley Harris had 7 points and 14 rebounds while Gizelle Whitlock had 6 points and 4 rebounds. Aynari Carbon had 4 points and 4 rebounds while Abby Sapp had 2 points. To round out the scoring, Unique Carter-Swanagan  added 1 point on the night.

The leading scorers for the Lady Colonels was Brooklyn Gibson with 17 points and 9 rebounds while Allyson Rideout had 16 points and 7 rebounds. Addy Gish had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists while A’Tylia Green had 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Anna Kemp tallied 2 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists while Rashia Cansler scored 1 point and has 3 blocks on the night.

The Lady Devils shot 6 for 10 (60%) from the free throw line to the Lady Colonels 7 for 11 (64%). The Lady Devils shot 4 for 11 (36%) from behind the three point line to the Lady Colonels 5 for 20 (25%). The Lady Devils had a total of 33 rebounds while the Lady Colonels had 36 total rebounds in the game. The Lady Colonels recorded 7 steals, 12 assists, and 5 blocks. The Lady Devils committed 18 turnovers to the Lady Colonels committing 20 turnovers on the night.

The Lady Colonels improve to (1-0) on the season while the Lady Devils fall to (0-1). The Lady Colonels next game is this Friday night, December 6th, on the road in Paducah to face off against the McCracken County Lady Mustangs at 7:30 P.M.
