Highlighting “the real America and true Kentucky hospitality” on the Road to 250
HENDERSON, KY (December 19, 2024) – As America is gearing up to celebrate its 250th birthday in 2026, the tourism offices from Bowling Green, Henderson, Owensboro, Paducah and Edmonson County have creatively combined forces to encourage visitation to Western Kentucky, under the banner of the Kentucky Americana Triangle.
With a symbolic focus on the cultural icons Western Kentucky is famous for– quilts, cars, and guitars– the region will tap into distinctive locations and events that showcase the Bluegrass State at its finest, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in an authentic American experience as the nation sets out on the path to celebrate 250 years of unity.
“Western Kentucky is a true slice of Americana—home to Audubon’s Birds of America, unbeatable BBQ, our historic Ellis Park, and a charming downtown,” said Abby Dixon, executive director of the Henderson Tourist Commission. “As Americans plan nostalgic road trips leading up to our nation’s 250th birthday, there’s no better place to celebrate the spirit of the American dream, complete with great food, world-class bourbon, and memories to last a lifetime.”
The Kentucky Americana Triangle is brought vividly to life through an engaging visitors guide and rack card which highlight multiple attractions in each city, soon to be available from the tourism offices in each of the participating counties.
