The Colonels came away with a win against the Bullitt East Chargers, 59-36, on the road in the Grayson County New Years Classic in Leitchfield last night.
The leading scorers for the Chargers was Zayden Sutton with 10 points and 5 rebounds while Drew Swift had 6 points. Nate Wilson had 4 points while Connor Stinnett had 4 points and 3 rebounds. Ryan Rayhill tallied 4 points while Clay Reynolds scored 2 points. Joseph Reid added 2 points and 3 rebounds while Sam Bates had 2 points. To round out the scoring, Aidan Boyer tallied 2 points on the night.
The leading scorers for the Colonels was Lacon McKinney with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists while Elijah Suggs scored 15 points and recorded 5 rebounds and 5 blocks. Cooper Davenport had 9 points and 4 assists while Jarren Byrum had 9 points. Xavion Johnson had 5 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists while Colten Thompson had 3 points. To round out the scoring, Dwaine Moss added 2 points and 5 assists on the night.
The Chargers shot 0 for 7 (0%) from the 3 point line to the Colonels 8 for 15 (53%). The Chargers shot 4 for 10 (40%) from the free throw line to the Colonels 5 for 7 (71%). The Chargers had a total of 22 rebounds while the Colonels had 30 total rebounds. The Colonels tallied 22 assists, 9 steals, and 6 blocks. The Chargers committed 15 turnovers to the Colonels committing 12 turnovers on the night.
The Colonels improve to (9-3) on the season while the Chargers fall to (9-4).
