UPDATE: Firefighters continuing to manage hotspots from warehouse fire

UPDATE: The fire crews are continuing to monitor and manage hot spots today as a result of yesterday’s fire. Throughout the day, there is the possibility for small fires or columns of smoke to be visible in the area. However, there is not a threat of fire spread or toxic materials in the atmosphere.

City of Henderson officials are asking folks to continue avoiding the area to allow emergency vehicles and equipment to access the scene as needed. Again, the city said they want to express how grateful they are for the assistance they received from surrounding volunteer fire departments and the Ohio Township out of Indiana.

HENDERSON, KY, January 8, 2025– Firefighters are battling a warehouse fire in the 1100 block of First Street.

The Henderson Fire Department was dispatched at 12:33 p.m. Wednesday afternoon to 1156 First Street, a site leased by Budge Industries, following reports of a significant warehouse fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy flames actively penetrating through the roof of the structure.

Due to the rapid escalation of the fire and the imminent risk of structural collapse, crews transitioned to
a defensive attack strategy. This prompted a coordinated response that included requesting additional
aerial and tanker resources from neighboring counties and Ohio Township in Indiana.

Firefighting operations are ongoing, and crews will remain on-site until the fire is extinguished. Updates
will be provided as the situation develops, according to a press release from the City of Henderson.

The public is urged to stay clear of the area to allow emergency personnel to manage the situation
effectively.

The City of Henderson and the Henderson Fire Department is grateful for the assistance from the
Robards, Corydon, Zion and Basket Volunteer Fire Departments and Ohio Township from Indiana
