Warming Stations and Storm Shelters:
Henderson County: The Salvation Army, in partnership with the Red Cross and Henderson County Emergency Management Agency has an overnight warming station at its facility on Washington Street. Food, cots and other accommodations are available, according to Henderson EOC.
The Gathering Place Senior Center will be open as a warming center from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. The center will be used a warming shelter during the day. Seniors are welcome to come and hang out. However, there will be no regular congregate meals or programs offered. The senior center is in an emergency operation mode and is being used primarily as an emergency warming shelter and overnight shelter during this weather emergency. Please be aware that there may be non-seniors in the center to stay warm.
Education:
Henderson County Schools will hold a non-traditional instruction day Friday. All childcare centers will be closed. School officials said that they will be flexible with students who are still experiencing power and internet outages at their homes. Alternate plans can be made.
Union County Public Schools will hold a non-traditional instruction day Friday. APPLES Childcare will be open.
Webster County Schools will have a traditional snow day on Friday.
Henderson Community College campus will be closed Friday. HCC offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Riverview School will be closed Friday.
Other:
The City of Henderson is asking residents to place their limbs near the roadside (NOT in the road or on the sidewalk) and the City will collect those as the weather conditions allow. Please note Henderson Municipal Power & Light is not performing debris removal and any debris cut by the HMP&L crews will be the responsibility of the property owner to move to the curbside for collection.
