Charlotte Carolene Robards Felty, age 97, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 4:25 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Charlotte was a member of Henderson’s First Baptist Church and served on the “Kitchen Crew” on Wednesdays. As a member of the Order of Eastern Star #186, she held various local and state offices throughout her membership. People in the Henderson community knew her well for her involvement in the Eastern Star annual pecan sale. She was an active member of the Henderson County Band Boosters and was a board member of the Travelers Protection Agency. Charlotte volunteered for Methodist Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, the Henderson voting polls and was a Kentucky Colonel. She graduated from Lockyear Business College and began her career at CBS Dress Factory. Charlotte retired as office manager at Period International.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents Samuel Ashford and Esther Robards, her husband of 62 years Harry Felty, sister Dorothy Wilson, and her great-great granddaughter Madalyn Shelton.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters Brenda Young of Henderson, KY and Elana Stone (Sam) of Robards, KY; 5 grandchildren: Carolene Denton (Jeff), Bill Young, Nicholas Young (Jennifer), Sarah Laramie (Doug), and Meredith Powell (Andrew); 10 great-grandchildren: Marcus Shelton (Melissa), Kyle Shelton, Olivia Wallace, Vicki Denton Clements (Eric), Scott Denton (Tandy), Callie Young, Rylan Young, Eloise Laramie, Matilda Laramie, and Stone Powell; several great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Charlotte’s Life Celebration from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Monday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the funeral home with Reverend Alan Chamness officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
