A Henderson driver was arrested after allegedly driving while intoxicated with his one-year-old child in the car.
Henderson Police Department officers were flagged down by a citizen at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 5th. The citizen told police that Elijah Wood, 21, of Henderson had just left her at a local restaurant after she told him to pull over because she believed he was intoxicated.
Officers were also told there was a baby in the car with Wood while he was driving. Wood was located at a nearby address and detained.
Following a series of field sobriety tests, officers determined Wood was intoxicated.
Wood was taken into custody and submitted to a breath test for alcohol intoxication. Wood tested over the legal limit for operating a vehicle.
Wood was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center on an initial charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol .08 or higher, 1st Degree aggravating circumstance (child in the car).
Presumption of Innocence Notice: The fact that a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
