Evansville man accused of crashing into gas station sign


Henderson Police Department have arrested an Evansville man accused of crashing into a gas station sign on Monday morning.

Police said that Dawson Ramirez, 25, of Evansville, was driving in the 1300 block of Old Madisonville Road at around 1:30 a.m. Monday when he left the roadway and hit the J’s Quick Stop sign.

While investigating the crash, officers detected signs of impairment. Officers could smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the car and found an open alcoholic beverage container in the car.

Ramirez was given several field sobriety tests, which he could not successfully complete. Based on the FST results and verbal statements made by Ramirez, officers took Ramirez into custody.

He was transported to a medical facility for blood drawing prior to being taken to the Henderson County Detention Center.

Ramirez was arrested on the following charges:

  • Operating While Under the Influence 1st Degree
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Open Alcohol Beverage Container
  • Failure to Maintain Required Insurance 1st Offense
