HENDERSON, KY,– The City of Henderson officially opened the Deaconess Henderson SportsPlex (“The Plex”) to the community on Friday afternoon.
“The Plex”, is a cutting-edge sports complex designed to meet the growing demand for local youth sports facilities, provide opportunities for recreation, and generate economic benefits for the Henderson community.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday marked the beginning of a new era for Henderson in the realm of youth sports. Phase one of the project includes four synthetic turf baseball fields, each 200 feet in length, and a versatile multipurpose field that can accommodate both football and soccer.
“The Plex” is a part of a much larger vision for a 65-acre complex that will grow over time to include additional sports amenities.
“The Deaconess Henderson SportsPlex is a significant step forward in our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and fostering a healthy, active community,” said Mayor Brad Staton. “The Plex provides our youth with the opportunity to play, compete, and build lifelong memories while bringing economic development to our area through tourism, events, and local partnerships.”
The completed first phase and those going forward of the Deaconess Henderson SportsPlex will serve three main goals:
- By offering high quality, accessible sports facilities, the city can better serve the community’s youth and ensure they have opportunities to play youth sports
- The Plex is expected to attract regional and national sporting events, generating revenue for local businesses and contributing to the City’s economic growth
- The Plex will drive tourism and elevate the local economy by hosting tournaments and large-scale events that will benefit hotels, restaurants, and other local businesses.
This project would not have been possible without the tremendous support of the Henderson community. The City of Henderson would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each organization thatcontributed to Phase 1 of The Plex:
– Deaconess Health Systems
– Henderson County Fiscal Court
– Royster’s Machine Shop
– Royster’s Production Machining
– Best Insured
– The Lambert Family
– The Luther Duncan Family
– Raymond B. Preston Family Foundation
– Pratt Industries
– Audubon Chrysler

“The vision for the Deaconess Henderson SportsPlex is one that reflects the collaborative spirit of our community,” offered City Manager Dylan Ward. “We are grateful for the support of these incredible sponsors who have helped bring this dream to life.”
The development of the Deaconess Henderson SportsPlex will continue in the coming years, with future phases set to expand on the initial offerings and provide even more opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy.
With plans for additional fields, facilities, and amenities, The Plex will soon offer the community more opportunities than seen in years past.
“We are excited for what’s to come as we continue to develop The Plex,” says City Manager Ward. “Our team at the City of Henderson is committed to creating a space that not only meets the needs of our community but also supports the growth of our local economy for years to come.”
