Bernard “Bernie” Elias Thomas, Jr, age 84 of Morganfield, KY passed away Tuesday June 3, 2025 at his home after an extended illness. He was born March 16, 1941 in Waverly, KY to Bernard Elias Thomas, Sr. and Cecilia Mae Bullock Thomas. Bernard was a hard worker and worked in the coal mines for 35 years. After retirement he went to work at Audubon Metals for another seven years as a mechanic. Bernard was a very active outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, trap shooting, horseback riding, boating, and after retirement, woodworking. He enjoyed and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded by his parents; a son Mark Allen Thomas; brother Edward Merle Thomas of Sturgis; sisters-in-law Lyda Thomas and Angie Thomas of Morganfield; brother-in-law Tom K Stevenson of Sturgis, KY.

Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 3 PM Friday June 6, 2025 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, KY.
Rev. Cole Cavin will officiate. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. The burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery in Morganfield, KY. Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony Hospice, 2410 S. Green Street, Henderson, KY 42420 or Morganfield First Baptist Church, 200 N. Morgan Street, Morganfield, KY 42437.
