Henderson, KY – The Salvation Army of Henderson will soon have new officers in charge.
The new officers, Captains Doug and Jane Monroe, will officially begin their service in Henderson on Sunday, June 22.
Captains Doug and Jane Monroe come to Henderson from Nashville, where they recently served as corps officers at the Madison Corps in North Nashville for several years.
The community is invited to a special Welcome Sunday service at 11 a.m. Sunday June 29 at The Salvation Army Worship and Community Center, located at 1213 Washington Street, to meet and greet the new leadership team.
As part of The Salvation Army’s unique structure, officers (who are ordained ministers) are periodically reassigned to new communities to bring fresh perspective and leadership to different areas of ministry. These moves typically occur every few years and are guided by the organization’s leadership based on the needs of both the officers and the communities they serve.
Current officers, Majors Norman and Claire Grainger, are departing Henderson. This leadership transition is part of the organization’s regular officer appointments, according to a news release.
“We are deeply grateful to Majors Grainger for their faithful service in Henderson,” said Major Al Newsome, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army in Kentucky & Tennessee. “Their dedication to meeting both the spiritual and practical needs of our neighbors have made a meaningful impact in our community.”
Farewell Sunday services for outgoing officers will be held on Sunday, June 22.
The Salvation Army remains committed to serving Henderson through its local programs, including food and clothing distribution, and Angel Tree Christmas gifts for those in need, and looks forward to continued partnership with the community under the new leadership.
The Salvation Army in Henderson serves Henderson, Union and Webster counties.
