Cathie Varble

 

Cathie Varble, age 69, of Reed, KY, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at her home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.

 

Cathie was previously a bus driver for the Henderson County School System. She enjoyed trips to Florida, spending time on the beach, and taking cruises. Cathie loved spending time with her sons and grandchildren.

 

Cathie was preceded in death by her parents Bethel and Daisy Collins, brother Charles “Chuck” Collins, and her sister Sharon Liebo.

 

Cathie is survived by her partner Steve Odell of Reed, KY; sons Chris Collins (Jessalyn), Kindall Collins (Rachel), and David Howard (Andrea) all of Reed, KY; sisters Terri Clement and Paula Collins both of Henderson, KY; several grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Cathie’s Life Celebration from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Thursday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the funeral home with Brother Bill Skipworth officiating. Burial will follow at Baskett Cemetery in Baskett, KY.

Joyce Jewell “Mammie” Turner Van Bussum

 

Joyce Jewell “Mammie” Turner Van Bussum of Hebbardsville went to be with her Savior on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

 

Joyce was born in Butler County, KY, the 11th child of Acie and Artie Nash Turner. Joyce met the love of her life, Mayer Eugene Van Bussum in 1952. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on August 28th. She was a former employee of Bear Brand Hosiery Mill, a homemaker, and helped raise many children, all of whom she considered hers. Joyce was a room mother at Audubon Elementary and Hebbardsville Elementary. Her faith and family were very important to her. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Joyce was a member of Gillyville Community Church and was a great asset to her husband as he pastored at Cedar Hill General Baptist Church in Nortonville, KY, New Hope General Baptist Church in Slaughters, KY, and Gillyville Community Church in Henderson County, KY. She was a founding member and the first president of the Hebbardsville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

 

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Acie and Artie Turner, step-father Mal Freels, siblings: Gracey Turner, Elta Saling, Erdest Turner, Elsa Byrd, Herbert B. Turner, Ora Turner, Lora Turner, Reuben “R.A” Anderson, James Turner, Dimple Turner, and Charles Turner, as well as her step-siblings: Frances Russ, Orville Freels, H. Chester “Check” Freels, Wm Hobert Freels, Mary Ida Craig, and Edith Eaton.

 

Joyce is survived by her husband Mayer Van Bussum, children: Shirley, Charles “Buddy”, Linda, and Brad (Kelley) all of Henderson County, KY, 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Joyce’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Thursday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the funeral home with Reverend J.W. Haire and Reverend Danny Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Hebbardsville, KY.

 

Pallbearers will be Dakota Gentry, Dalton Payne, Troy Clark, Andrew Hester, Jeff Lawrie, and Lance Duckworth. Honorary pallbearer will be Sanford Nash.

 

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Gideons International, PO Box 1163, Henderson, KY, 42420.

  GEORGE  COBURN TILLOTSON

JUNE 27, 2025

 

George Coburn Tillotson, age 70 of Morganfield, KY passed away Friday, June 27, 2025 at his home.  He was born Oct 22, 1954 in Henderson, Ky to James and Katylene Tillotson.  George was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.  He was a Navy and Army National Guard veteran and was a member of the American Legion. George’s career included correctional guard in Florence, AZ and Henderson County jail in Henderson, KY.  He graduated Henderson County High School and had some college in Florence, AZ.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents James & Katylene; sister Ella Kay Tillotson; grandson Syd Navarro.

 

Survivors include

Daughter          Laura Tillotson Navarro & Husband Ben

Their children Fernie Tillotson (Sami Ortiz) Ethan Navarro

His children Michael, Jesse, Kelsea

 

Ex wife Laura Benedetto of Casa Grande, AZ

Her children Miguel, Reah, Shakara

Bobbi Newsock (Mary)

Her children Zoe, Drake, and Elaine

As well as all his Newman and Tillotson extended family members.
