CROFTON, Ky.– A car struck and killed an Ohio woman while she was outside of her vehicle on the shoulder of the Pennyrile Parkway this weekend.
Christian County dispatch contacted Kentucky State Police at 12:58 p.m. Sunday requesting that the agency investigate a fatal collision involving a pedestrian at the 22-mile marker on the Pennyrile Parkway, according to a news release.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox was parked on the northbound shoulder. Krystin M. Bowling, 32, of Massillon, OH, was outside of the vehicle securing her luggage.
Jeffrey B. Calhoun, 62, of Madisonville, was operating a 2014 Toyota Prius traveling northbound on the Pennyrile Parkway.
For unknown reasons, Calhoun’s vehicle traveled toward the parked vehicle and struck Bowling, who was standing outside.
The Christian County Coroner pronounced Bowling dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing by Accident Reconstructionist Hunter Combs.
