William B. “Bob” Wilson
William B. “Bob” Wilson, age 82, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Deaconess Henderson Hospital.
Mr. Wilson served his country as a United States Air Force Veteran. After returning home from Germany he began his career in 1967 on the Henderson City Police Department as a police officer. He later worked at the Henderson County Department as a deputy sheriff and deputy jailer. Bob retired from the Henderson City Fire Department in 1987. He was an agent for Greyhound Bus Lines/ Western Union from 1986 until 2004, first in Henderson, KY, then Evansville, IN, Hopkinsville, KY, Owensboro, KY, and Ft. Campbell, KY. He was most recently employed at Bluegrass Trucking Company. He was formerly a member of East End Tabernacle Church until 2000 and attended Riverside Pentecostal Church where he enjoyed singing.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Townsend-Wilson, father Robert L. Wilson, mother Ida Florence Wilson, and sisters Irene Miller and Wilma Piper.
Bob is survived by his sons Rob “Robbie” Wilson and Scott Wilson, both of Henderson, KY; sisters: Linda Ford (Jim), Faye Knight, both of Henderson, KY, and Mary Webb of Evansville, IN; brother-in-law Jim Townsend of Henderson, KY; grandsons Dane Wilson and Dax Wilson of Henderson, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bob’s Life Celebration from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, and again on Friday from 9:00 am until service time. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 15, 2025, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY, with Reverend Tony Payne and Reverend Mark Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.
Pallbearers will be Dane Wilson, Dax Wilson, David Yates, Keith Ford, Kevin Miller, and Darrell Townsend, with Jeff Townsend and David Trapp serving as Honorary Pallbearers.
