Joyce (Scott) Turnbow, age 93, of Henderson, KY, formerly of Muleshoe, TX,  passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.

 

Joyce was born in Anton, TX, on October 1, 1931, to Jim and Rena Scott. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and loved volunteering there. Joyce enjoyed sports and watching her grandchildren participate in basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, baseball, and tennis.

 

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Bill Turnbow, three brothers Raymond Scott, Curtis “Shorty” Scott, and Donald Dean Scott, grandchild Taylor William Turnbow, and a great-grandchild Asher Jon Turnbow.

 

Joyce is survived by her sons James Turnbow and his wife Shelly of Muleshoe, TX and Rodney Turnbow and his wife Cammie of Lubbock, TX; daughter Tina Musgrave and her husband Jeff of Henderson, KY; 6 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services for Joyce will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Lubbock, TX with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

 

Pallbearers will be Steven Turnbow, Bryan Turnbow, Trevor Turnbow, Tyson Turnbow, Cody Atwood, and Ashley Atwood. Honorary pallbearer will be Ray Mason.

John Lewis Raley

 

John Lewis Raley, age 82, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, at home, under the care of Southern Grace Hospice, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born on March 6, 1943, in Evansville, Indiana, John grew up in Henderson, Kentucky, and graduated from Henderson City High School in 1962. Immediately following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably during the Vietnam War. John earned the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal, and he completed his service in 1966 with the rank of Sergeant (E-5).

Following his military service, John began a long and dedicated career with General Motors Corporation. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, and four-wheeling, as well as traveling across the United States with his son Jason. He also cherished quiet moments at home watching classic Westerns and never missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Venita (Todd) Raley, his wife Mary, Loretta Davis Raley, step-daughter, Diane Davis, grandson, C.J. Davis, and his brother, Lee Boyd Raley. He is survived by his son, Jason (Wendi) Raley of Woodland, GA; step-son, Emory (Peggy) Davis;  grandson, Todd (Sara) Raley of Kennesaw, GA; step-grandchildren, Andrew Davis and Jenna Davis; great-grandsons, Trip and David Raley; beloved family friend, Vickie Kauffman; great-grandchildren Mikalah and Carson Davis of McDonough, GA; siblings, Dolores (Robert) Skaggs of Henderson, KY, and Connie (Henry) Bach of Richmond, KY; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to John’s Life Celebration from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Monday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will  follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
