Henderson County rolls past Central Hardin, 44-12

HENDERSON, Ky. — Henderson County’s offense proved to be too much for Central Hardin Friday night as the Colonels powered their way to a 44-12 victory on the road in Cecilia.

Behind a balanced rushing attack, Henderson piled up 211 rushing yards and 377 total yards on the night. The Colonels controlled the game on the ground, with sophomore Anzerion Marigny leading the way with 14 carries for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hayden Turner and Kieran Cole also added steady production, finishing with 36 yards and 40 yards respectively.

Quarterback Brody Belt gave Henderson efficiency through the air, completing 11-of-22 passes for 211 yards and 3 touchdowns (2 INT). Senior WR Avant Baxter hauled in all three touchdown receptions, while the Colonels consistently kept drives alive, finishing with 16 first downs.

Defensively, Henderson forced three turnovers, keeping Central Hardin from ever building momentum.

Despite their struggles, the Bruins managed 191 total yards, with most of the production coming on the ground. Arthur Worlobah carried the load, rushing for 119 yards on 18 carries. Quarterback Trey Dalton rushed four for -9 yards. On top of that, the Bruins’ passing attack struggled, finishing with just 21 yards through the air.

Special teams was also a factor as Henderson limited Central Hardin’s field position, forcing the Bruins into six punts on the night. Junior Jack Dalton returned one of the six punts for a school-record 90-yard TD, breaking the previous record of 82-yards set by Jonathan Jackson in 1998 vs. Union County.

The victory improved the Colonels to 3-2 on the season, while Central Hardin fell to 0-6. Henderson’s strong ground game and defensive effort showed the kind of physical identity they’ll look to carry into the weeks to come. First on that list…is George Rogers Clark (3-2), who the Colonels will tackle next week on the road in Winchester. Kickoff is set for 8pm ET/7pm CT.
