HENDERSON, Ky. — On a crisp Friday night under the lights, the Henderson County Colonels (4-3) put forth a commanding performance at home, pounding Christian County, 67–29. The win bolsters Henderson’s confidence and shows off just how dangerous their offense can be when clicking across the board.
Colonels Build a Lead, Find Momentum
Christian County had an early 8-7 lead and kept Henderson from settling in, but the Northern Colonels gradually took over. Henderson flipped the momentum with a 34-14 scoring differential and by halftime, they had built a cushion (41-22) they’d never surrender.
Defensively, Henderson forced stops and capitalized on six turnovers (all interceptions), while offensively they mixed the run and pass to keep Christian County’s defense off balance.
HCHS Offense in High Gear
Henderson’s stat sheet tells the story of control and efficiency:
• Rushing: 339 yards on 33 carries
• Passing: 72 yards on 8-of-15 completions
- Total: 411 yards
• 1st downs: 21
• 3rd downs: 3-of-7
• 4th downs: 1-of-1
• Turnovers: 0
Christian County, by comparison, tallied 105 rushing yards and 159 passing yards (264 total). But they converted only 5-of-14 3rd downs, went 0-for-3 on 4th downs, and were plagued by 6 turnovers.
Standouts for Henderson
Several players stood out as keys to the big win:
- QB Brody Belt: 6 carries, 17 yards & 6-13 passing, 62 yards, 2 TD’s
- QB Jack Dalton: 8 carries, 106 yards, 3 TD’s, 1-1 passing, 12 yards, TD
- WR/DB Avant Baxter: 1 reception, 55 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT’s
- RB Kingston Shidler: 5 carries, 44 yards, TD
- RB Jonathan Langley: 2 carries, 20 yards, TD
- RB Anzerion Marigny: 6 carries, 50 yards, 2 TD’s
- RB Kieran Cole: 6 carries, 102 yards
- TE/DL Jack Logan: 1 reception, 12 yards, TD, INT
- RB Jack Ryan Reusch: 1 reception, 43-yards, TD
- DL Dominique Beamus: INT
- DB Jaxton Duncan: INT
- DB Keaton Sutton: INT
Christian County’s Efforts & Struggles
Christian County had bright spots, though they were overshadowed by Henderson’s dominance:
- RB DeAsyan Harris: 19 carries, 135 yards, TD
- QB Tom Johnson: 9-31 passing, 105 yards, 2 TD’s, 6 INT’s
- WR Darius Finch: 3 receptions, 54 yards, 2 TD’s
Despite flashes of productivity, Christian’s offense could never sustain momentum. Their inability to convert in critical moments — 3rd down, 4th down — and excessive turnovers proved costly.
