Henderson Water Utility has issued a boil water advisory for a broad area on the east end of Henderson due to a water main break. Approximately 1,093 customers are affected.
The break is being repaired now at the corner of 5th Street and Heilman Avenue near H&K Outdoor Power.
The affected area is generally defined as beginning at the corner of Heilman Avenue, following the railroad tracks to the Kentucky State Police post, continuing east to Bent Creek subdivision, and then north around the Highlander subdivision, before returning to the corner of Heilman Ave. All customers in the affected area are under this Advisory.
The following schools are specifically included in this advisory – East Heights Elementary School, Henderson County High School, and North Middle School
Please refer to the map below for a visual representation of the affected areas.
All water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, and giving to pets must be boiled for at least one full minute before using.
The advisory will remain in effect until water samples test clean, which is typically 24 hours after the break is fixed. HWU said it will post a notice when it is safe to return to normal use.
