Owensboro man flown by medical helicopter following two-vehicle crash

A medical helicopter was called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday morning at the intersection of Kentucky 425 and U.S. 41A.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office said that a 2024 Mack Terrapro garbage truck driven by Joseph Mattingly, 58, of Owensboro, was traveling west through the intersection at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday.

At the same time, a 2023 Ford F-450 driven by Billy Stevenson, 66, of Calvert City was traveling south through the intersection.

The vehicles collided, causing the Mack truck to overturn and leaving the pickup truck disabled within the intersection.

Mattingly was transported by Deaconess Life Flight for medical treatment.

Stevenson and his passenger, Barry Stevenson, 70, of Calvert City, reported no injuries.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Both lanes of traffic were shut down for several hours as the accident was cleaned up. The roadway reopened by early afternoon.
