The Henderson County Colonels (2-1) earned an impressive road win Tuesday night, blowing past the Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado (0-2) by a score of 65-47.
Henderson controlled the game from start to finish, jumping ahead 18-7 after the first quarter and blowing it open with a dominant second period to lead 40-16 at halftime. The Colonels carried a 51-32 advantage into the fourth and comfortably closed out the win.
Sophomore MaLaikye Taylor led the way with a career-high 16 points, including eight in the final quarter. Junior point guard Xavion Johnson added 15.
Three Colonels — Amare Stewart, Zayden Martin, and Jarren Byrum — each scored seven, with Byrum knocking down a pair of three-pointers. Travis Little contributed six, Landon Smith hit a three, and JahMarion Isabell and Braden Williams finished with two points apiece.
Henderson County returns home Saturday for its season opener at Colonel Gym, hosting Allen County-Scottsville at 4:30 p.m.
