Balanced Colonels Roll Past UHA, 76-53

The Henderson County Colonels (4-1) picked up a convincing 76-53 victory over University Heights Academy (1-3) Monday night at Colonel Gym.

Henderson fell behind early, trailing 16-13 after the first quarter, but responded with a strong second period to take a 33-24 lead into halftime. The Colonels continued to pull away after the break, building a 55-37 advantage after three quarters and cruising to the win.

The Colonels showcased their depth, as 13 players scored in the game, and Henderson controlled the glass with a 37-29 rebounding edge.

Amare Stewart led the way with 15 points and two rebounds, while Xavion Johnson added 14 points and seven rebounds. Braden Williams finished with nine points and six boards. Travis Little and Brayden Dennis each scored six.

Jarren Byrum, Mikey Woolfork, and Easton McGill chipped in four points apiece, while Zayden Martin, Landon Smith, Wyatt Townsend, and Zeph Thomas each scored three. Kingston Shidler rounded out the scoring with two.

Henderson County returns to action Wednesday night at Colonel Gym in a make-up game against sixth-ranked Daviess County, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
